Algiers is the largest city which act as the magnificent metropolis of Algeria and is also called as El-Bahdja and Alger la Blanche which means ‘Algiers the White’, due to the sparkling and lustrous white colour of its buildings, that just appear to be rising high up in the sky, from the sea. It history date back to 1872 and it is completely designed in Neo-Byzantine form. The church is elevated at the height of about 407 feet and it dominates the Algiers Bay.

Another worth-visiting attraction of the city is the Martyrs Memorial, that was inaugurated in 1982 and it symbolises the efforts and bravery of those courageous heroes who were killed during the war of Independence of Algeria. It is shaped as the three leaves of a palm tree and an ‘Eternal Flame’ lies under it.
